Additionally, there are numerous opportunities to support and celebrate the excellent work being done, with a strong focus on the team’s well-being. This commitment to inclusivity and recognition fosters a positive environment where everyone can thrive and contribute to the community effectively. Their dedication to collaboration and support sets a remarkable standard in service delivery.

Extremely personable approach concerned with the finer details of both young people and staff teams but deliver this in an extremely professional way. Look not just at what they’re doing now but the impact on the long term future recognising the value for the staff team in seeing those relationships grow and maintain them for long periods of time.

While they maintain a strong focus on the care of young people, they understand that exceptional care for these individuals can only be achieved by equally supporting their teams. The energy, passion, and genuine care you bring to your role, the young people you support, and your own family were evident from the very beginning of our conversation. The Support Worker Award (North)

Winner: Carol Clifford, Westmorland and Furness Council

Sylvonn is a highly commended candidate due to his unwavering passion for social car and a genuine desire to learn, he prioritises the needs of young people, demonstrating compassion and dedication. with his strong commitment and drive i believe Sylvonn will excel and make a positive lasting impact on the lives of children. 

The Support Worker Award (south) 

Winner: Josh Barreto, Cambian Group

Josh is an incredibly dedicated individual who genuinely loves working with people. He consistently brings a fresh approach to care, seeking innovative ways to connect with clients. By implementing the concept of love languages, he tailors his communication strategies, resulting in improved engagement and well-being, fostering meaningful connections that enhance overall care quality.

Highly Commended: Alex Dolman, Idem Living 

Alex is deeply passionate about working with people and finds immense joy in helping them progress toward their dreams. He is dedicated to empowering individuals through encouragement and tailored support, celebrating each achievement along the way. His commitment to fostering growth inspires those around him to reach their full potential.

The Support Worker Award (central) 

Winner:  Tracy Webber, Cynhenid Care

Tracey’s dedication to helping young people is truly inspiring. Her empathy, patience, and positivity have transformed lives, guiding children with challenging behaviours to achieve their goals. Her ability to connect, support, and nurture confidence is remarkable, and her passion for making a lasting impact is deeply commendable.

Highly Commended: Ann Hamp, Derbyshire Carers Association 

Ann’s unwavering commitment to supporting young unpaid carers is truly commendable. Her empathy and dedication empower young people, helping them navigate complex challenges while pursuing their dreams. By tailoring training to individual needs, she provides essential guidance and support. Ann’s positivity and genuine desire to uplift others make a significant difference in their lives.

The Children’s Home Manager Award (North)

Winner: Alina Pop – Montgomery Terrace

Alina stepped into a home in crisis to support children with significant complex needs. The home underwent a transformation that saw no member of staff or child  leaving. Creating a truly family environment. Children are supported to achieve the best outcomes they can and are transitioning to live their adult lives. Alina is a truly inspirational leader.

Highly Commended: Dotty Clark – Gracewell 

Dotty provides inspirational leadership that significantly impacts her team and the children in their care. After moving to her new home, she collaborated closely with staff and young people to transform the culture. Her child-centred approaches prioritise inclusivity and understanding, fostering positive outcomes and creating a nurturing environment for everyone involved.

The Children’s Home Manager Award (south)

Winner: Mariam Gabajabl – Magnolia House, Silver Birch Care

Mariam leads with energy, warmth and passion, possessing a clear understanding of how to equip the staff team with the necessary skills they need to provide the very best care for their young people.  She has shown real ‘stickability’ for the young people and staff at Magnolia House.  This, coupled with a genuine desire to significantly enhance practices through a child-centered approach has undoubtedly improved outcomes for young people.   Mariam refers to Magnolia House as ‘our house, our children’ and this really shone through.  Well done Mariam.

Highly Commended: Rebekkah O’Malley – The Oaks, Siver Birch Care 

Rebekah has demonstrated a real commitment to the young people and staff team at The Oaks. She has built a team around the desire to provide a family environment to enable the very best outcomes for the young people. Rebekah is a mentor to other managers and shares her knowledge and good practice in the interest of developing others to provide the best care for young people. Well done.

The Children’s Home Manager Award (Central)

Winner: Francesca Bray – Haven Care Group

Francesca runs a home that she proudly describes as having an amazing “Peter Pan” team, embodying a culture of love, acceptance, and support. This nurturing environment empowers young people to actively contribute to society while engaging with the community and the wider world, all while prioritising fun and enjoyment in their experiences.

Highly Commended: Nicola Clayton – Progress Care Solution 

Nicola demonstrates exceptional enthusiasm, passion, and drive in developing her innovative service for disabled children in crisis. She focuses on providing comprehensive assessment, care planning, and clinical formulation. Through her collaborative teamwork, Nicola actively works to prevent future placement breakdowns, ensuring stability and support for the children she serves.

The Frontline Leader Award

Presented by Beth Beynon

Winner: Katie Mercer, Underley Garden School          

Very strong leader with excellent leadership skills. Like to develop the team and solve problems through guidance and training of the team. Role models good practice with her teams so practice remains to a high and effective standard. Very assured in discussions and leading on MDT teams in the best interests of the children and staff team. Katie sets SMART targets with the team, breaking situations down so people can understand what is needed from them with a set and clearly defined timeframe. It is easy to picture Katie as a front-line leader leading and guiding her team in managing the children in the service, exemplifying best practice and showcasing how to get projects.  

Highly Commended: Ami Westmacott, Bright Life Living         

Ami has shown that she leads from the front, with challenging situations with children. Ami looks beyond the paperwork for the child, using her natural PACE skills to help support the child and team in postivie ways. Ami manages difficult conversations well, and challenges the team in a promt and timely manner to get the best for the service. Ami is clearly a very acomplished and strong leader, setting strong routines set in the home which gives the team and child clarity on expectations.

The Senior Manager Award 

Winner: Rob Gillespie, Idem Living

Rob deserves the senior manager award for his unwavering commitment to the industry and his genuine love for children. His inspirational leadership fosters an environment where staff receive exceptional support and training, empowering them to better serve young people. Rob’s passion and dedication truly make a difference in their lives.

Highly Commended: Rachel Brant & Lea Williams, Accalia Care 

Rachel and Lea deserve the highly commended award for their work and creativity in supporting young people and the teams. Their commitment to inclusive working and building positive relationships has greatly benefited the children they care for. Their hard work and dedication inspire both their colleagues and the young people they support every day

The Children’s Home Team Award (North)

Winner: Amber House, New Horizons NW

This home has a remarkable team that complements each other exceptionally well, fostering a collaborative atmosphere. Each member expressed positive sentiments about their teamwork and shared pride in their collective achievements. Their unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality, child-focused care is evident in every interaction, creating a nurturing environment for the children.

Highly Commended: Netheredge Care

The team interacted wonderfully, each member bringing their unique personality to the group dynamic. They engage in meaningful community work, demonstrating a strong commitment to instilling important morals and values in the children. Their diverse strengths complement each other, creating a supportive environment that nurtures both personal growth and community involvement.

The Children’s Home Team Award (South)

Winner: The Oaks, Silver Birch Care

It was lovely to see so many of the team attend the interview and show such warmth between each other and to be respectful of each other’s comments. There was enthusiasm and they all championed each other to show the strengths that each one brings to the team around the child.

Highly Commended: Dovedale House, Kedleston Group 

The manager spoke with such pride of her team, and it showed how a team are committed to children and have achieved so much with the outcomes for children. They are a team progressing and pushing each other to succeed and have continued development and growth. 

 

The Children’s Home Team Award (Central)

Winner: Team, Carters House

The team at Carters House bring the joy, fun and laughter into everything they do, creating a home and workplace where people want to be. There is passionate and compassionate approach to child centred support enables young people to build a life for themselves. Knowing there is a safe place to fall if needed. As a result, young people are exceeding expectations and thriving.

Highly Commended: Oak Lodge, Accalia Care

The staff at Oak Lodge take on multiple roles to ensure that the young people in their care feel a strong sense of belonging. They pride themselves on providing tailored support, ensuring each young person has the resources and guidance necessary to plan for their future and achieve their individual goals.

The Foster Carer Award 

Winner: Christine and Martin Corson, Wiltshire Council

Their unwavering commitment as foster carers has transformed countless young lives. With immense compassion, they create safe, nurturing environments where children can thrive. Their dedication and kindness truly make them extraordinary role models in our community.

Highly Commended: Karen and Graham Wyatt, Orange Grove Three Shires 

Their remarkable dedication as foster parents has profoundly impacted the lives of vulnerable children. With love and compassion, they create safe havens, empowering young people to flourish. Their unwavering support and kindness inspire us all.

The Fostering and Adoption Award

Winner: Amanda and Rachel, Families First Fostering Ltd

The love and care these ladies have for the families and children they support is palpable and admirable. They ooze compassion and care. So many examples of going above and beyond for the young people they support and the parents. They are a much-needed voice in foster care.

 

Highly Commended: True Fostering Ltd, True Fostering Limited 

The open and loving approach to foster carers, and the support they need, is at the forefront of all True Fostering do. Changing the ways they work, not being afraid to do things differently. they are trailblazing and making a difference where it counts. 

The Biggest Impact Award (individual)

Winner:  James Julien – Hillingdon Council

James uses his own story to inspire others, speaking at schools and community events about the importance of resilience and the power of positive choices, he works with professionals to help them understand young people via his lived experience and how they can get better outcomes. James is a trued advocate and inspiration to young people, his peers, colleagues and professionals around him.

Highly Commended: Lewis Dixon – New horizons 

Lewis passion for the sector was evident in how he brought to life his role and the impact he has on both young people and the staff teams that support them. His personalised training plans, tailored to individual needs and career aspirations, have empowered our team members, leading to higher job satisfaction, doubling staff retention, ensuring that young people benefit from the consistency of care provided by well-trained staff.

The Biggest Impact Award (Team)

Winner: Emerald Team – Wiltshire Council

The Emerald Team have not only created a groundbreaking service for supporting decriminalisation, reoffending and support through the justice system. They have gone above and beyond with teaching children and young people how to provide immediate first aid care and responses to knife wounds to save lives should it arise. 

Highly Commended: Beth Culshaw and Team – A-Triangle Care LTD 

Beth Culshaw and Team have reshaped the future of a young person, when others believed this was not possible. They transformed the life of the young person and family through their advocacy and challenging services where barriers arose, leading to the young person feeling safe, secure and loved for the first time.

The Safeguarding of Children Award

Winner: Team, Pebbles Care

This organisation places safeguarding at the core of its practice, demonstrating real-life, tangible examples of innovative approaches that prioritise child safety. These methods allow children and young people to navigate their healing journeys while ensuring they feel safe, seen, heard, and understood. Their commitment to safeguarding creates a supportive and nurturing environment.

Highly Commended: Pineapple Project – Dorset Council Children’s Services

This project is a brilliant example of community safeguarding practice can create an environment in which young women and girls feel safe and protected. The ‘out of the box’ thinking by this team is incredible, as is their commitment to coproduction and learning from those they are wanting to protect. 

The Children with Disabilities Award 

Winner: 21 Huntley Avenue, Westmorland and Furness 

It was clear from the outset that the team at Huntley Avenue forge strong relationships with children and families quickly. They achieve fantastic outcomes with a highly experienced and stable team to support children with disabilities. They do transitional work with the children as they move to adulthood, being a vital bridge in that transition. They strive to offer opportunities to these children they cannot get in their own community, giving them valuable once in a lifetime opportunity. More than anything, children and families class them as a home from home, showing that the extra mile they go in building relationships is validated.

Highly Commended: Shirley Nelson and Team, Horizon Care 

It is evident that the team are highly proactive safe guarders of the children in their care. The lengths they go to in regards keeping the children safe and the staff team empowered are exceptional. They work to minimise risk, where there is currently no risk, to ensure no complacency creeps into the team. They adjust for each child to ensure they have as positive experience as a child can in and out of the home. It is clear there is strong and dynamic leadership in running the home which the children are thriving off.

The Leaving Care Award 

Winner: Joy Wakenshaw, Pebbles Care

Joy was a pleasure to chat with, effortlessly linking her evident passion for her work to specific examples of how she and her colleagues have supported a young person in achieving their goals. Her dedication and enthusiasm were truly inspiring, leaving a lasting impression of the positive impact she makes in their lives.

Highly Commended: Nathan Sweet, Ashwood Children Care Home Ltd

Sugar to our sweet! Thank you for sharing your heartfelt story with me, along with your undeniable passion and energy for the young man you’ve welcomed into your family. It was truly a privilege to have such an uplifting conversation, Nathan, and to witness the love and dedication you embody.

The Wellbeing Award

Winner: Shahidur Rahman, Cardinal Pole School

The fantastic whole-school approach ensures access to vital support and guidance for both pupils and their extended families. I truly appreciated their efforts outside of school, which significantly bolster the well-being of children and families. The Partnership Working Award

Winner: Integrated Front Door ,Central Bedfordshire Council

The Integrated Front Door epitomises effective partnership working and serves as an amazing initiative bringing agencies together under one roof. This collaborative environment fosters the sharing of knowledge and experience, enabling quick, real-time decision-making. As a result, it significantly enhances the ability to achieve positive outcomes for young people accessing their services.

David is truly innovating in his approach, fostering collaborative working that encourages accountability among all team members. His strong moral compass is evident in every discussion, guiding the team’s efforts. David is becoming an essential part of a collaborative initiative focused on reforming social care, making a significant impact in the field.

The Children’s Champion Award

Winner: Arbury House, Forge Care

Arbury’s dedication and commitment to empowering children within their services is truly evident. Their passion for supporting and creating better futures for the children is undeniable and shines through in all their initiatives. Every action reflects their unwavering belief in the potential of each child, fostering growth and opportunity for all.

Carrie is a genuine advocate for the young people in her care, consistently going above and beyond to ensure that each child has a voice. Her unwavering dedication helps create an environment where children feel supported and valued. Carrie’s commitment makes a significant difference in their lives and overall well-being.

The Children and Families Social Worker Award 

Winner: Lauren North, Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council

Lauren has shown exceptional growth as a Children’s Disabilities Social Worker, excelling in empowering children and families. The Supported Accommodation Award

Winner: National Association Of Supported Accommodation Providers

NASAP is at the forefront of shaping supported accommodation for young people, celebrating its new identity and the essential role it plays across the UK. Their passion, commitment, and drive are truly inspiring, as they work tirelessly to enhance the lives of young individuals and provide them with meaningful support and opportunities.

Highly Commended: Carman Eardley – CRYSTAL CARE SOLUTIONS 

Crystal Care celebrates the profound, long-term impact that high-quality support can have on young people as they transition into independent living. By providing tailored assistance and guidance, they empower these individuals to develop essential life skills, fostering confidence and resilience. Their commitment ensures that every young person is equipped for a successful future.

The Young Carer Award 

 

Winner: Tiahna Wilson

Tiahna, the 2023 Young Carer Award winner, dedicated herself to caring for her gran until her passing in 2021. Now a full-time caregiver for her 89-year-old papa, she has supported him after a minor stroke, teaching him to speak again. Tiahna advocates for young carers, sharing her experiences through her platform and writing a book, Hidden Sacrifices. Recently diagnosed with vasovagal syncope, she continues her caregiving journey, embodying resilience and dedication. Her papa nominated her to express gratitude for her unwavering support and commitment, ensuring their legacies are remembered. Tiahna is a remarkable young carer!

The Outstanding Contribution to Social Care

Winner: Tom Ellison – Ellison Lynd Consulting

Tom has shown that throughout his career and time in the sector, he has made a positive impact on not only just children and young people, but also adults and other professionals as well with his valuable knowledge and expertise. He uses his grand knowledge to positively change the lives of many children and young people.

Highly Commended: Dr Kevin Gallaher – Amberleigh Care Ltd 

It is evident that Dr. Kevin possesses a genuine passion for positively impacting the lives of children and young people. His extensive experience and knowledge enable him to influence other professionals effectively, fostering a collaborative environment that promotes best practices. His dedication inspires those around him to strive for meaningful change.

The Lifetime Achievement Award

 

Winner: Pier Pritchard

With over 40 years in the sector, Pier’s unwavering dedication to keeping families together, grounded in her core social work values, has left an enduring legacy in children and family services. She pioneered the Family Group Conference programme in Wiltshire, widely recognised for its impact, and spearheaded the Southwest’s first PAUSE team, helping numerous women achieve life-changing transformations. Through her innovative leadership, resilience, and commitment to preventive programs like the Family Drugs and Alcohol Court, Pier has been a cornerstone of support and advancement, ensuring that Wiltshire’s children and families continue to receive meaningful, high-quality care.
